What’s in Playa San Jose? I have decided to concentrate on the area of Playa San Jose in Montecristi canton because there is little information available about this area. Furthermore, this is the area that we have decided we will live and work in.
Playa San Jose is located along the Ruta del Sol (E-15 highway) 10 minutes from Puerto Cayo and 45 minutes from the city in Manta. It is a very beautiful and quiet beach visited by the locals, where you can unwind and relax. An ideal place for practicing snorkeling, diving, whale watching, surfing, and deep water fishing. There is cliffs where you can go paragliding or maybe you just want to soak up some sun on the beautiful beach. Isla La Plata is also near and visible from the beach. Isla de la Plata (island of silver) is the most famous of the islands in Machalilla National Park.
Renowned for its abundant and exotic wildlife, exquisite unspoiled beaches and rich historical past, Isla de la Plata offers fantastic opportunities for curious travelers. Search for the island’s great number of resident and migratory birds, including blue-footed and masked boobies, frigate birds, pelicans, and giant albatross. Swim and snorkel in crystal-clear waters, perhaps coming face-to-face
with a friendly sea lion.
Visit a local museum or archaeological site to observe artifacts from ancient indigenous peoples. Watch for migrating whales as they make their way through the waters surrounding the island. One of the main attractions of Playa San Jose is the humpback whales. You can easily see them at Playa San Jose as they mate near the island just off the coast. The mating occurs from the middle of June until October.
Dolphins are also plentiful near Playa San Jose as there is good reefs in the area for food and for snorkeling. Locals in the area of Playa San Jose can arrange for your transportation to the island. You can often get a better price right from the shores of Playa San Jose.
