|Ecuador Consulate in Toronto located on the 4th floor.
This week I have an update. Upon our return from the Ecuador Consulate in Toronto we have been granted our extension for our Tourist Visa. We now have our passports stamped with the 180 day visa.
Keep in mind one important point that we learned. It is important that when you book your airline tickets that the date of return must reflect exactly 180 days for your return date. The consulate counts the day you bring your application in to the consulate. So make sure you know exactly what day you will be going to the consulate and then count 180 days from that date.
If you don’t do this then you will be stuck changing the return date on your flight and paying a potential penalty fee and difference in ticket prices and taxes.
What a relief it is to get the extension from 90 days to 180 days. This now gives us the time to work on our Investor Visa while we are in Ecuador to enable us to have resident status in Ecuador. This will be another lengthy period of going through bureaucracy and paperwork in Ecuador.
We will keep you all posted on this as it comes. We are due to depart Canada at the end of August, so things are quite busy around here dealing with logistics and preparing to make the move south.
